Mirror-touch

Your body is like a mirror
Reflecting the sensation, not the image
A perfect replica of each emotion,
each vibration, and each situation
From people shaking hands in the street
To dogs playing in the pink flowers
You can feel the other person's skin
And the blades of emerald grass
Against your own legs
Watching a TV is enough to trigger it
In a scene about a man dying
The blood gushing from his wound
Hurting in the same spot on your stomach too
You can feel the coldness of the blade just by seeing it
Shivering before you turn the TV off
As if you are the character and yourself
Empathy is the core of this condition
One that helps you understand expressions
But also experience life from someone else's perspective.
