Misery River

I can't turn my heart away from the cruelty in life , my soul is bleeding into the Missouri River , the same as the many of you that share my pain
Peaceful protests are met with mace added to already cold and tear filled faces , but never backing down or so much as closing their pain ridden eyes
With snipers watching the people are arrested and pushed shoved and told to get back, loudly they protest and refuse to move as they are forced to watch ancestors graves desecrated
They fight through the torture delivered by those who are supposed to protect them , they bravely stand in the glistening stream knowing if they don't protect the water its integrity will be raped with toxic pollutants
Driven by sheer will to keep the drinking water absolute , they sing and chant and occupy, never raising a fist while they are kicked like a dog who defecated on the carpet
I write for them because they are trying to express their basic human right to drink clean water, control their land and keep their holy ground sacred , this can not be what we have become

I feel this Luke. It kills me to see what is happening up there. We had a vote on a pipeline in our community and there was no bull**** about it when it was voted NO. This makes me very angry and is a very good example of where (I feel) we may be headed. Hugs, Rebecca
Thanks everyone I felt I needed to do something for them and draw awareness
