Poem -

misunderstood

misunderstood

up on the hills - a lonely path
where trees surround - a stony mass
to gaze upon - the sorrowful sight
where once a man - lay on a night
the stars shone down - upon his soul
he left his home - no more felt whole
upon his mind - exile inside
to live in heights - far and wide
there he lay - prayed to god
to save his soul - give him a thought
when he was found - on years gone by
his soul was gone - his body did die
they buried him - under stones of the hill
where grass so green - and trees so still
a memory -another lost
his soul at peace - but at a cost
a headstone - of rotting wood
carved -"here lies the man misunderstood!"

Valerie Beasley...

This is a very haunting piece…shadowed and shaded in sadness.  You can feel the soul of the man aching beyond the grave.
