Monsters, and the Sons and the Daughters They Made

Fade into me as I fade into you,
And we will become no one,
As we were never really here.
Walk into me and I'll bump into you,
And we'll have touched nothing,
Since we were never here.
Love me and I'll love you,
And we will have wasted our lives,
Loving someone who was never worth our time,
Embrace me and I'll hold you,
I'll hold onto no one,
Except the remnants of,
What we once were,
Fear me and I'll fear you,
With love and compassion,
And fraud,
I fear no one,
Except the lack of an audience and applause,
The silence which gnaws,
Is gone with the remedy of a kiss,
It is rolled from a hill,
To a slope,
On the bank of a dried river bed,
Where we held each other's hand,
And nurtured each other's growth,
And clung on in hope,
To what we had built,
In each other,
And when it toppled,
We cried,
But we would not die,
Not us, not us,
And you told me to love my dad,
But when we walked down the street,
At night,
You were afraid,
Of monsters,
And I was not,
I fear no one,
And nothing,
The worst has happened to me,
You fear monsters,
And ask why I don't love too easily,
I walked in the dark,
In fear of monsters
Like you are,
Until I became one,
Like I am,
And feared only myself,
And yet you hold my hand,
So I will protect you,
I will cling onto you,
I will love you,
But no one else,
Monsters don't love,
Only they destruct,
Left in pieces,
Everything I touched,
I will not shatter,
But the thing that I love.
