MoonLife

MoonLife

When I was young
man walked on the moon
I watched, peering from
a little spot on Earth
taking one step for mankind

When I was older
kisses came by moonlight
I watched the moon gazing from
my lover's arms
taking steps toward my life

A celestial object that brightens the sky
large luminary, opalescent  orb
man sees the full moon, half moon, no moon
it disappears then returns
man waits for it--without it, man dies

Now I am old
the moon has befriended me
I wait for it--it calls to me
no more kisses under the moon
for tonight, I slumber hoping for the subtle dawn
