MORNING GRAY

The morning arrived on tip toes
No announcement no golden fanfare
Grey slippered feet she appears
Damp and silent asking for quiet
Everyone breathed a sigh
Rest and replenishÂ
Sleep in and drink
A quenching respite
Weighted petals bow
Lowering their burdenÂ
Moistured to the soil
The blackbird sings
I on the other handÂ
Cup my hands round
A hot cup black
Aroma pulling me awake
The fire crackles and pops
Green wood’s song
A day of words to paper
Quilted in my armchair
For what more could I ask
I have no doubt I am blessed
I am loved without questionÂ
Perhaps one thing
Old friends, faces, voices,Â
Hand on my shoulder
Kiss on my cheek
Warm smile of old memories
I had hoped we’d finish together
So many went on before
I know you wait with patienceÂ
As I finish the course
If you are here when I finish
Carefully pick memoriesÂ
The ones that bring a smile
And I will wait for you

Sir,
I had to go back and read some of your works before writing to know who I was talking to,
based on your profile and poetry I feel very proud that you found beauty in my words.
