Mother

Mother

It happened some years ago,
I just thought you should know,
A baby was born once upon a time,
Tension filled a room 'til first whine.

But a mother is born too that day,
And that special bond never goes away.
She holds her child when he cries,
Softly humming him lullabies.

A mother in her very special way,
Brings her child through another day.
She stands by as a little man shows
While patiently instilling things she knows.

And even when he's Mr. know it all,
Only catching as he stumbles to fall.
A mother in all her wisdom and love,
Must sometimes wage that heart-felt shove.

But she too has a bit to learn,
Like respect is something to earn.
That to teach a child to grow,
She must eventually let him go.
