Mother Nature's Uprising 2020

"Ha! You thought you were all powerful,
Didn't you?"
Mother Nature whispers through the leaves.
"Thought you could treat me like dirt.
Thought that if I stood in your way
You could just destroy me- cut me down?

Well I'll remind you who's
Really in charge.
I'm having a cull-
You don't know where I'll
End, do you?
I'm taking control for now.

It's a lovely day
And today you will remain
Inside whilst the birds
Can fly through the cleaner
Air and the otters

And badgers, rodents
And squirrels will have
Their time in the sun
They'll enjoy a spring break
Without you-

And me?
I am the invisible elephant
In the room:
You don't see when
You meet each other
But I'll make you keep

Your distance-
Make you stand apart:
Fill you with dread
I can make you
Cough and splutter
As you read the news

And as you do this
I and my animal friends
Will enjoy a spring break:
Cleaner water.  Cleaner air.
Peace.

And when you do get out
And see me in my full splendour
Hopefully you'll respect me:
Appreciate me
And remember who is
Really in charge".
