Muted Morn

This muted morn
Where eyes wake to pale skiesÂ
The breath of life crystallisedÂ
Encrusting frozen dust
Which creeps acrossÂ
Like lustrous white rustÂ
Winters husk
Has clutchedÂ
these once fertile landsÂ
To blanch itÂ
With its blanket
of sugar powdered sandÂ
Jewelled branches gleam
Across a glass streamÂ
That cuts a trailÂ
like an ornate veil
Through the quilted creviceÂ
of a snow white dale Â
Where stillness formsÂ
A ghostly hueÂ
To await the springÂ
Who shall birth anewÂ

"Jewelled branches gleam

of a snow white dale"
This particular part literally brought in a cold front and gave me chills as I read it Gwen. As always you write yet another masterpiece:) ~Rob Â
Rob you picked my favourite part to this poem. I loved how that stanza evolved. Poetry can be just like a painting when itâs many layers form a picture. Thanks for this fab comment to this one. So pleased you enjoyed :) xÂ
It evolved perfectly, such imagery Gwen, you have a way with words.Â
Thanks Rob for all your kindness and support. We can doubt ourselves at times. Thanks for the happy vibes my friend x
Tina, thanks for stopping by and for pinning this one xxÂ
Gwendoline..
Your words, takes my breath away..
I've never heard your voice

Listening to you read this piece aloud.

As far as I am concerned, there are simply far too many great turns of poetic phrase encapsulated here for me to pluck just one or two of them out in order to showcase ..
You have without any doubt done winter justice Gwen .. tis like peering into one of those roughly shaken winter themed paperweights I once used to delight in as a kid ............................................................................... and correspondingly delightful x
Â
Awe Neville I am thrilled I was able to enchant your imagination back to a happy time in your childhood đ I love nature and itâs seasons. Thank you so much for stopping by an older post and leaving your much appreciated words of kindnessÂ
