My dark Passenger

My dark Passenger

Rambling and mumbling in my head, the things my lips fail to speak

Keep it to myself, don't burden others, I am not manufactured to be weak

Some days it's easier to pretend

I chose no one to vent to, so I pick up this pen

Sadness turns into rage, as I feel flushed with fever

My face is happy and warm, my heart is so cold I can't help but shiver

Sure, things could be worse, God knows they have been

Or does he know? So, he can fix me then?

Most of you are devoted Christians

Good for you. May he wash away all your sins

As for me, I fight my battles alone, perhaps I am weak

I've searched for God, happiness is all I seek

Blind to the signs

These ill emotions sometimes realigne

It's just a pitty party for me,

I am not like this in person you see

I am sweet I am giving

I have a dark passenger that inside me, he is living

No one knows him, except whoever reads this

My family, friends, to this side of me are completely oblivious

Thanks for listening, person unknown

This is a side of me I have never shown

My dark passenger, with no name

You can't see or hear him, I've learned that he must be tamed

loving that 'dark passenger' Amber, this write pops, and to be honest you haven't said anything that is obviously offensive, the reader is a bible believer himself, and to have someone on a poetry site say

'I've searched for God, happiness is all I seek

'As for me, I fight my battles alone, perhaps I am weak'

is neither here nor there, it is a really good line by the way....a religious destination should be based on a personal journey, in my opinion...  what I find fascinating about the 'dark passenger' concept here is how well you articulated it in this poem, so mysterious cool and a bit edgy, you come across... would enjoy having you stretch out the persona a little more, perhaps 'dark passenger 2'... it really is a great theme to explore, I promise not to steal the idea, but I do like it a lot, just saying.... great subject matter, superb write, reads like a million bucks....cheers pal

Hey Christopher, as I was writing this, I noticed how similar it was to some of my earlier work, The porcelain angel trilogy I wrote. I think you would enjoy it. Anyhow, thanks for reading and I am stoked that you liked it.

Hi Amber Great write I think many could relate
when you say about feeling sadness that turns to rage.
so we put a facade up and suppress how we really feel
to the outside world
but hiding inside is the "Dark passenger" of unhappiness.
A great read  best wishes Debs

What you have written here I relate to whole heartedly 100%. Your title was perfect for this, and here...on this site...is where you belong with feelings like this, your not alone. I have written many on this subject but you conveyed much more beautifully, with subconscious talk and outward honesty. Amber keep it up, you have progressed so much since your first posts on cosmo and I admire your writes. Peace.

Your Poem touched me deeply.. Your Dark Passenger is the ego split mind

which occludes our vision of the absolute or the creator or God,which ever..

it is very difficult to over come but through powerful exploratory poems like this you will find the

path..It takes a lifetime..It has a great rhytm as well

congratulations!!!

I hear you, Amber and commend your acknowledgment of needing to take your darkness. Nothing exists outside of its nature. The fact that all people are capable of great evil is a testament to the wickedness dormant inside us.

You are more than welcome to message me. I am no stranger to darkness. There is nothing you could share with me that would divide my love for you.

Be well, friend.
