My Daughter

For sixteen years I've watched you grow.
Nurturing and loving so.
I've watched the woman you've become.
You've no idea how proud I am.
With dignity and graceful ease,
You always aim to try and please.
And though your heart may ache inside,
you'll bite it down so you can guide
someone else who's feeling down,
your empathy, your golden crown.
I'll mourn the little girl now gone,
as side by side we carry on.
Embracing change, a different page,
two adults, now you've come of age.
So if I had a single wish,
I know for sure it would be this....
Promise me, whatever you do,
to always, truly, just be you.

What a lovely tribute and poetic ode to your sixteen-year-old daughter, Donna.
As a father of a twenty-one-year-old daughter myself, I could easily relate to the wonderful sentiments you've expressed here.
Exceptionally well done!

Than you so much for your lovely comments. She is an incredible young woman and my heart just wants to burst with love every time I look at her. She will do well in life, I'm sure of it.xo
With a mother who cares as much as you obviously do, how could she go wrong?
~Dean :)
Aw shucks......lol. I just be her mum, she does the rest.xo
Apologies accepted. Gutted though 'cos thought I was really popular hahahaha!xo
