My drunken fool
Daddy issues

Daddy please stop drinking,
Mummy’s patience is shrinking.Â
Daddy please stop screaming,
Mummy’s face is no longer beaming.
I know you’re a good man,
However,Â
Doubtful, when you’re drinking from a beer can.Â
Throw the cans away,Â
And mummy will let you stay.Â
Let’s be together,Â
In the warm summer weather.Â
At 3 years old, you left.Â
A heartbreaker, a drunken fool and a thief.Â
Eventually, you threw them away.Â
With another women, you found your way.

Gasp...I got goosebumps reading these lines:Â
What a powerful poem, you described the scene well. Â
Many blessings for better memories and more incredible poems to share.Â
Sometimes, the hardest part to writing about a personal tragedy is sharing it with others. I've learned in my short membership here, how many men and woman have survived some type of abuse at one point in their life. When it's a young person who experiences it, it's more heart breaking.Â
We live our memories, but that does not mean we have to be held by them all the time. Reach high into the atmosphere, leave a trail of your memoirs for other survivors to read. Thanks for sharing your story and your poems.
