My Fallen Angel

A Fallen Angel
by Gabriel Magno © 2000
green eyes, red lips, golden hair, a long soft hand across my face
sweet perfume, and sweeter words, has surely set my heart to race
why me, why now, do I behold this beauty, lying gently in my arms
a foot lose man, now growing old, in Hollywood from Georgia’s farms
If this a dream, let it come true, if only for a fleeting hour
I’ll give my heart, my soul, and all I have, within my power
to this, a fallen angel, who fell into my wasted life
was but a year ago, who’s now my sweet and precious wife
on a winding road to Monterey, something I said did make her laugh
a wayward car approached our way, and then a frightful sudden crash
my heart sunk lower than a deep abyss, as a tear fell from my eye
she turned and gave me one last kiss, her last word was goodbye
and as my fallen angel lies, below the earth covered in flowers
I cling to memories of her love, through my dark and lonely hours
if one must know what eased my pain, through all the years gone by
my fallen angel rose again, beyond the clear and deep blue sky

Hi Gabriel! This is such a sentimental, heartfelt write. I love the twist at the end. Beautiful!
