My Family is Falling Apart

My Family is falling apart
My brother gets angry
      - before anything else - 
My mom does nothing
     - just sighs -

Whenever I hear someone 
     - sigh - 
My heart stops beating
     - then moves too fast - 
When I hear someone sigh I think 
Of her 
     - of her yelling - 
Of her and slammed doors and 
     - Stop - 
My dad ignores it 
Helps us bargain for more Xbox time
My step dad stops by our house
And suddenly
     - the house must be clean - 
And FOX NEWS goes on 
     - too loud - 
Too loud when I hear every argument 
He says 
    - my mother agrees - 
I’m fine
That isn’t true
That makes me so angry I want to slam a door and 
      - Scream - 
I hide in my room 
He continues his teasing 
     - I talk too much - 
‘Oh my god’ 
He says 
When I express my love of something in
      - spoken essay form - 
My mom just laughs along
She stopped listening 
      - 2 glasses -

My dad sits on the computer chair 
That I’ve tied a dozen pairs of shoes on
Since I was born
He watches another gun video 
       - commenting as it plays - 
I hear everything and turn my music up
I hear everything and stay out of the kitchen
      - At least I can’t snack l - 
      - Stop - 
I hide in my room
My best friend is a 
      - book - 
      - screen - 
      - schedule, unfollowed - 
      - silent house - 
My family is falling apart
      - once again - 
But I am not a third grader anymore 
I am not a girl you can squash under 
      - glares - 
And a 
Stern talking to 
     - the speech - 
That I got more than 
I love you

     - we love you - 
     - this has nothing to do with you guys - 
     - say something to us - 
     - I’m on your side - 
     - please talk to me - 
     - you can say anything to me - 
No I can’t 
You’ve shown me that

      - you yelled more than soothed - 
      - You questioned instead of 
                   - accepting -
      - you moved on - 
Without me

     - a third and first grader - 
With messy brown hair
      - You stopped looking beneath a lie - 
That now rolls off my tongue easier than

      - I can’t do this anymore -
