MY GLASS WALL

MY GLASS WALL

If only I had a partition
To keep me safe from the world
I'd be like a rose, seen through glass
With my pedals safely furled
But living behind a partition
Hiding behind a glass wall
I'd be seen but left unattainable, unreachable
And that isn't living at all
Through the glass, I saw life unfolding
And I wished that it could be me
But I couldn't, it wasn't safe enough
I couldn't touch or feel, but see
So I broke down the walls that once held me
The walls that kept me safely apart
I broke free from my little glass world
I stopped trying to protect my heart
I felt my heart beating from outside my glass world
I never felt so free
Though the turns in life can be scary
There's no other place I'd rather be
