My Inspiration

Ever since I realized what that feeling in my chest allowed me to do

I began to seek it out

in every corner.

I looked under beds

and behind closed doors.

I always found little shards that would last anywhere from a few hours

to a couple days.

But still,

I was looking for more.

So I searched for it in the depths of blue eyes

and between the lips of strangers.

My blood boiled at the rush,

and my finders flew across the page,

hungry for an ending I hadn't reached yet.

I fell between the pages of books,

I lost myself in the words of songs I had forgotten.

I created a fire,

pulling from the flames until the oxygen ran out and

I lay on the floor gasping for air.

But the sparks always died,

disappearing in the wind across the dark sky.

So I still seek,

searching for something

for that feeling of inspiration.
