Mother Dear

I came home yesterdayĀ
This is what the doc had to sayĀ
Your mother 's very ill
She's losing all of her willĀ
To stayĀ
I wiped the tears from my eyesĀ
As I sat down by your sideĀ
I could here you taking short breathsĀ
Still believing you'll be here a whileĀ
YetĀ
I love you mother dearĀ
It's been wonderful having you hereĀ
Watching over me night n dayĀ
I understand you don't want to stayĀ
With meĀ
So I went to work that mornĀ
With a heavy heart till noonĀ
When a feeling came over meĀ
And I had to suddenly leaveĀ
And go homeĀ
When I arrived and walked through the doorĀ
There was that strange sensation once moreĀ
As I walked up stair by stairĀ
I could still feel your presence thereĀ
With me
As I knelt down by your sideĀ
You took my hand in yours n we criedĀ
You told me many things IĀ never knew
Then your last short breaths you drew
Of lifeĀ
I love you mother dearĀ
It's been wonderful having you hereĀ
Watching over me night n dayĀ
I understand you don't want to stayĀ
With meĀ
I took you gently in my armsĀ
I cradled you like a babyĀ
Like so many times you took me in yoursĀ
Even when I grew into a ladyĀ
You didĀ
Mother dear close your eyesĀ
It's time to say your goodbyes
Drift gently off to sleepĀ
Your secrets I will keepĀ
With meĀ
I love you mother dearĀ
It's been wonderful having you hereĀ
Watching over me night n dayĀ
I understand you don't want to stayĀ
With meĀ
I love you mother dearĀ
It's been wonderful having you hereĀ
Watching over me night n dayĀ
I understand you don't want to stayĀ
With meĀ
