Poem -

Mother Dear

I came home yesterday

This is what the doc had to say

Your mother 's very ill

She's losing all of her will

To stay

I wiped the tears from my eyes

As I sat down by your side

I could here you taking short breaths

Still believing you'll be here a while

Yet

I love you mother dear

It's been wonderful having you here

Watching over me night n day

I understand you don't want to stay

With me

So I went to work that morn

With a heavy heart till noon

When a feeling came over me

And I had to suddenly leave

And go home

When I arrived and walked through the door

There was that strange sensation once more

As I walked up stair by stair

I could still feel your presence there

With me

As I knelt down by your side

You took my hand in yours n we cried

You told me many things I never knew

Then your last short breaths you drew

Of life

I love you mother dear

It's been wonderful having you here

Watching over me night n day

I understand you don't want to stay

With me

I took you gently in my arms

I cradled you like a baby

Like so many times you took me in yours

Even when I grew into a lady

You did

Mother dear close your eyes

It's time to say your goodbyes

Drift gently off to sleep

Your secrets I will keep

With me

I love you mother dear

It's been wonderful having you here

Watching over me night n day

I understand you don't want to stay

With me

I love you mother dear

It's been wonderful having you here

Watching over me night n day

I understand you don't want to stay

With me
