My panic/anxiety attacks

I'm drowning,
Every day of my life.
I'm being pummelled by the waves,
Choking on the water.
Every time I try to reach the surface,
The anchor on my legs pulls me back down.
I'm being battered against the ocean floor,
My arms and legs scrapping on the coral and the rocks below.
My throat burning from the salty water,
My chest seizing up by the second.
My eyes can see nothing but darkness,
My body struggling to survive.
And for a second I think to myself,
"This is it" "This is my end."
All of a sudden,
My body starts to recover.
I can breathe,
I can see,
I can move.
I open my eyes to gaze at my surroundings,
I realise I've been in my bedroom the entire time.

The mind can be a scary place.
Great imagery Emma.
The emotional and physical effect that can happen when you are having a panic attack. I use to wake to that sensation. This really brought back those moments. Brilliant write ?
