MY PRIVATE WAR

MY PRIVATE WAR

You may see me smiling
But inside; It's a war
I'm fighting a private battle
And I'm shaking to the core
I'm laughing on the outside
Inside; I'm dodging bullets over head
Waiting in the trenches
I'm filled with fear and dread
Standing my ground against the enemy
And having done all, to stand
Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose
Sometimes, it feels like quicksand
Be kind to everyone you meet;
They may be fighting a battle too
An inner secret kind of struggle
A private war, like you
