My Relation With Berlin

I moved for no reason
I just felt like it
The boys and men
The bars
The political views
I wish I had not
yet glad I had
it was strangeĀ
yet enjoyable

I wroteĀ
for newspapers and magazines
it was fun
for a while
I saw it all change
I met some friends
They moved and left

Burning books
the smell of smoke
Smothering me
battering of men
bang, bang
working men

no more

entering shops

no more

There were raids
I hid, at night
no freedom at night
In morningĀ

I fled

They vandalizedĀ
"Juden"
all over, on walls, written
Our religion for all to see
haunting windows on the streets

People agreed with HIM

Joined HIM

Fought with HIM

For HIM

I disagreed with HIM

The rest fought against HIM

I was a JEW
I am a JEW

I will always believeĀ

in usĀ

JEWS
