My Sea Shanty

My Sea Shanty

Oh speed bonny boat like the wings of a dove
Carry me across the sea
Hasten me home where my true love lies
For my heart truly bides with thee

I sail in the swelling salty brine
Catching fishes for our tea
Tho my life is a fresh air fisherman
My heart belongs to ye

Well I’ve wandered the ocean
Whilst I skimmed the shore
Ne’er out of harms way
Yet Angel’s watch o’er me
with a guiding light
Safely leading come what may

So rest ye & wait
I shall cast away
Thru the beautiful ocean blue
But worry ye not I shall soon be home
Lying closely next to you
