My Silver

Remote and cold and hard, hanging in the darkness
Smooth, silver, distant, like a moon in the night
Their sorrow and their pity crash over like a sunset
And the cold makes whatever light left, flicker and fight
It sinks like metal into an ocean, into the deepness
And it can’t escape this blindfolded twilight
And then the fire, the burning and the pain
The flames of gold and red, sparkling and dancing
Encompass the silver and the cold
Thaw the ice and stop the shivers
With red hot passion and licks of gold
The silver starts to shift, to melt and change
To bubble over and come alive again
The cold had been so long that the heat was tingles and pain
But it was worth it
Because on that day when it started to rain
It didn’t crash over like the night
And it didn’t tear away like an angry scar
Because my silver was complete
My soul was a shooting star
