Mythology Of Minotaur

Minos ascended to the throne of Crete,
But because of his brothers, he had to compete,
Minos prayed to Poseidon, who sent a white bull,
Who Minos had to kill to appease, his honour to him in full.
Instead of killing it, Minos kept it for it's beauty,
He killed one of his own bulls, thinking he fulfilled his duty,
But Poseidon did care, and he would punish him at least,
And made Minos wife fall in love with the white beast.
Minos wife got a hollow wooden cow, made for her, styled,
So she could mate witht the white bull, and give her a child,
And after that encounter, a child she did bore,
The offspring produced, was a montruous Minotaur.
Minos wife nursed him, but as he grew he became unrestrained,
She could no longer feed him, and his hunger would remain,
The unnatural offspring, of a woman and a beast,
Nothing would sustain the Minotaur, but a bloody human feast.
After advice from an oracle, Minos new plan would begin,
And got Daedalus to build a labyrinth, to keep the Minotaur in,
The Minotaur remained a prisoner, underneath Minos' palace,
Still full of ferocity, and still full of malice.
Androgeos, Minos son, went to Athens and died,
It happened whilst fighting a bull, and Minos had cried,
But he journeyed to Athens, seeking to avenge,
A capital tax on Athenians, a sentence never to end.
Minos tax was hefty, but with Zeus got it done,
A tax involving children, Athenians that were young,
Every nine years, seven boys and seven girls would be sent to Crete,
To be given as sacrifice to the Minotaur living under Minos' feet.
