Never Alone

Never Alone

Here I go, just kicking stones
Walking alone, down an old dirt road
Lost inside and out, far from home
Unfamiliar places, in quiet thought I roam
But it seems to me, I'm not as solitary as I once thought to be
I feel the eyes as they peer at me through the trees
It appears my demons have chose to follow me
I try to ignore them, but they do as demons do
Sneaking quietly as a shrew, they stare locked on me, and forcing a hole right through
I turn and stop and stare right back
And say "if your coming prepare to attack"
"Stop toying with me I'm no mere snack"
And I think by the way they were preying on me they knew that as fact
I could feel them lunging at me, I watched the trees bow in
And storm clouds rolling
I didn't make eye contact until the rain started it's fall from the sky
Thunder and lighting causing the brush on the side of the road to sizzle and fry
And during the thunder strike I looked my demon in the eye
It spoke"you know why I'm here are you gonna make this easy for me?"
Then it vanished, it entered a place my eyes can't see
But was still here stalking and haunting me
It spoke again"luke, you know how this works"
"Just give in and I will take away all that hurt"
I said, "Demon I do not give in!"
"If you want to take my life, you'll have to show yourself and fight!"
"So be it!" It said, and as the lighting struck once more
It lunged at me with all its force
The light so bright, it again took my sight
Next thing I knew there was another voice "hey man are you alright?"
I said "yeah" got up and dusted myself off, then I said "who are you?"
He said " man I'm sorry the storm was heavy and it's dark are you cool?"
I again said "who the hell are you!!"
He said as he hung his head in shame and pointed to his truck in the rain
"I'm the guy that hit you!"

Precisely narrated tale is enthusiastically handled to create an eerie journey which is fulfilling and satisfyingly dark. Great write.

Wishing you the very best.

Take care.  :)
