Aphrodite and Discordia
My little contribution for national poetry day

Love leaves its mark upon the weary long after it has fled;
Well after the final song, long after the heart has bled.
Never once will be forgotten where love once laid its head.
It comes to us euphorically, announced by fanfares grand
And sweeps us up in Cupid's arms to warm, familiar lands
Where Aphrodite sings her song to lead us by the hand.
But chaos is a player that we never should ignore,
Discordia bides by no one's rules, she is her own true law
And will gladly take the melody where love once played the score.
Aphrodite and Discordia, they play this game so well
Where one rings out the bell of love the other tolls its knell.
And never once will be forgotten where love once lived and fell.

Omg I love greek mythology!! And your metaphors of them in this poem of love and loss!! Proper enjoyed this magical myth read!!
Didnt realise it was national poetry day!! Well this one works brilliantly for today then!! Always enjoy your writes.
Px?
Awww...thank you, P! This is a bit mish mash...Discordia is from Roman mythology I think her Greek counterpart is Eris...but Discordia worked better word wise...and it was just a quickie for poetry day. I read somewhere that it was poetry day so I am just taking someone's word for it . Thank you so much for reading.Glad you like it. When Cosmo let's me I will upload a picture (having big problems (again) with this at the moment. And I really appreciate your wonderful comment x
Oic!! Oh well I love any mythology!!

I love it anyway!! Px
I do too! Anything mythological I find very interesting. All cultures have their own myths and legends and the stories are always worth delving into x

How did I miss this? Absolutely stunning write Tina, these are poetic words of wisdom, truth and reality...
'but chaos is a player that we never should ignore
Discordia bides by no one's rules, she is her own true law
And will gladly take the melody where love once played the score...'
Wow...brilliant, and a sad reminder that we, as mere mortals are never in control of anything...pinned ?
Hi Marion. Things on here are easily missed. I have missed things too ? Thank you for reading! Yeah, we mere mortals have no say what so ever when the gods roll their dice...lol
So glad you like this. I did it in a bit of a hurry (National poets day, yesterday? Something like that) but it seems to work okay.
Thanks again for all your amazing support, my dear friend x
Was it?..god knows...I'm on my 4th Nightshift....I can barely tie my shoelaces ?????
??? well, I read it in various places on facebook yesterday proclaiming that it was such. Facebook! I mean, it must be true...if it's on facebook...lol
I hope you haven't got any more night shifts. You need a decent rest! Take care of yourself, Marion x
Christ I wish...breath is expensive Tina, I hope to god we will be provided with free food in heaven ...or hell!! ??
Xx
Write more. I m trying to get to 300 poems, don't know how many you have but more please.
Hi Liliana... I hope you reach your target of 300 poems. I'm sure you will ?. I have no idea how many poems I have written. I've been writing them for many years and they are all written down in various notebooks. Some of the poems I post in various places on the Internet. A lot of the poems will never see the light of day and stay firmly trapped within the confines of a notebook forever. I keep all my poems, even the bad ones (I have a lot of those). I will write more poems. Perhaps I should post some of the older ones too... I was going to but haven't yet. Thank you so much for your support, Liliana. I hope you manage to write those 300 poems and I wish you all the best with it xx
Lovely poem for national poetry day. I always enjoy rhyming poems, this one flows beautifully.
- Syd
Thank you, Syd. I appreciate that x
Read late for a late comer me. Very nice piece with flying stars about the harmony and chaos of Love, and much positive to me compared to some others ;)
Yiyan...I am so sorry for my late reply. I have only just seen your comment. Thank you for your lovely comment. Glad you picked out the line you liked...this is my favourite line in it too x
Usually I don't expect a reply anyway. Just found that line of deep meaning.
I know some people are bitter with their lost love once had, but to me any love is worth keeping in mind. Love is or was people love/d each other. No regret what so ever, and that's me thinking. Right? :)
😁
By the way, it might be of interest to tell you that my translation of your fond XVIII is now published, and I've posted what I've done with it:

👍
The Greek ying and yang of love eternally duelling in your beautifully written poem Tina.
And your last verse expresses it all. A wondrous write that is lovingly bestowed from a true poets true heart.
Love endures and in the end love conquers all.
Thanks for sharing, pinned and five worthy stars.
Once again, Shaun, thank you so much for reading and leaving your wonderful and kind comments. This is a mish mash of godesses. Aphrodite being the Greek godess of love, of course, and Discordia being the Roman godess of chaos. I believe Eris is Discordia's Greek equivalent but Eris didnt sound right for the poem so I used the Roman godess 🙈 I am so glad you like this. Thank you so very, very much for your wonderful support x
Tina more to read later and other members too.
24 hours in a day is never enough and I have Sunday away from the museum to really catch up.
And I need to brush up on my Roman and Greek deities!!😁
Thanks again.🙈🙈
Xx
Thought I would go routing through your treasure trove and what a wonderful find :) I love mythology and your use here is just so perfectly wonderful. Your message of two sides to love is full of wisdom for the reader. Wrapped up in a perfect last stanza too. Reads off the tongue beautifully.
Pinned 📌 :) x
Hi Gwen, I am so very, very sorry that I have not seen your beautiful comment until now. Thankyou sooo much for bothering to trawl through my pages here. I truly appreciate it and I feel so embarrassed not to have replied until now but I truly did not see your comment ... there's usually notifications, but not always it seems.
I love using mythology references. Anytime I come across anything interesting I log it down to perhaps be used at a later date. I am an avid colIector of anything interesting and an extreme hoarder of ideas. Thanks again, Gwen. Hugs x
All good my friend, I just found Shaun left one for me in June too. I think cosmos has been having a few hiccups 🤔
Your talent to pen mythological and magical writing goes far beyond poetry. So glad you found your feedback 😊💜
