Poem -

Never Say

I made a wish

A dream.

I'll never share

The secret wish I made.

I plucked a dandylion,

Its tufty plumes like

The feathers of a downy yellow chick

A dandylion

Growing unwanted on an untidy lawn

The sun soaked my achy summer bones

In the yard that wasn't mine.

And I smiled a little

As I blew,

Blew with all the force in my heart.

My heart in my mouth,

Blew the seeds,

Fluffy tufts, to me they were little diamonds,

To kingdom come.

Perhaps I planted weeds.

I don't mind:

I also planted dreams.

And now,

Don't you wonder

(I hope, I wish you wonder)

Enough to drive you mad,

Insane, as I am.

What possibly,

What in the world I wished for?

Not quite over

The rainbow has faded now

And I'm still here

You're not

But once, we were both here...
