NEW VARIANT

A new variant of the virus is now taking place
Bringing woe and sadness to every human face
Some areas of the country are now in tier four 
Can't see loved ones who they admire and adore

Christmas this year for many means only Christmas Day
As the new variant takes hold to have a devastating say
Seventeen million people affected is upsetting 
Will cause heartache and grief I would be betting 

The powers that be try to put out a positive spin
They tell us all that this virus will not win 
I guess it's pleasing a vaccine has been found 
Just will be eerie hearing no Christmas sound
