New World Order

New World Order

Trust, turned rust
Hope, hanging on ropes
I was told I was signing a commitment deal
I was only pouring a heart out in the bowl of the heartless
As I played a part, I was played out
“It’s a game” they laughed and trolled
I wasn’t supposed to be angry with a play on my investment
I was supposed to be that same gentleman
I wasn’t supposed to cry or moan, though I hurt
“It’s the new world order everyone is being played” they said
My use for you is to use me
My pain, your gain
You conceive deceit and mirthfully drink of its sap
You squeeze the life out of me and expect that I breathe easy?
Not knowing whose game I am being played in, I keep to myself
My heart quickens to play on he who played on me
My soul yearns for a niche in this fray
It’s a game I badly long to play
