New York City lonely

New York City lonely

She wakes up every morning
And pours herself a cup
Of coffee because she is tired
And she is trying to wake up
And then she’ll think about her life
And why she is always alone
All her friends are married
With wedding photos on their phone
New York City lonely
New York City lonely
It is tough but if you open your eyes and see
Nothing is more romantic then New York City lonely

He wakes up every morning
To the sound of his alarm
He’ll lift a weight or two to increase
The muscle tissue in each arm
And then he’ll think about his life
And why he is always alone
All his friends are married
With wedding photos on their phone
New York City lonely
New York City lonely
It is tough but if you open your eyes and see
Nothing is more romantic then New York City lonely

Taxi cabs and the symphony of saxophones
Bull market trends at the Stock Exchange and Dow Jones
The scent of pizza and pretzels in the air
Taking a photo with Elmo in Times Square
Riding your bike or simply walking through Central Park
Thank you Thomas Edison when the sky becomes dark
Because as an off duty cop stops into ā€œKatz'sā€ for a biteĀ Ā
There are miles of beautiful life and miles of beautiful light

It is now morning in the big city
She is waiting to go uptown
She works at a firm and starts at 9am
But now the morning rain is falling down
And into the underground he walks
With his umbrella drenched with rain
In an instant they look at each other
And then look away as they board their trainĀ
New York City lonely
New York City lonely
It is tough but if you open your eyes and see
Nothing is more romantic then New York City lonely
