Nicophobia

Nicophobia

When people asked my greatest fear, I replied “I have one true”;

I said it’s called “Nicophobia”, the fear of losing you!

For many years I looked away, chose my optimistic mind;

I thought you’d stay least sixteen years, so gentle and so kind!

But then a weekend came to pass, before you turned fourteen;

The weekend that would be your last, so totally unforeseen!

Sick for just three days then gone, my Nico sailed away;

My greatest fear had come to pass; now I cry for you each day!

For along with you went part my soul, no one has e’er loved more;

A dog that was a part of me, and will be evermore!

So now I write these tributes’ odes, that laud you with due praise;

For my Nico mate, I’ll love you true, for all the rest my days!
