Poem -

Night

My past it still haunts me
I can never relax
I think of it daily
I open the cracks

I push it back down
But it keeps coming up
I want to forget
The door just wont shut

Ever behind me
Clawing away
The demons keep coming
Never at bay

Clawing me back
Pulling me down
Memories worn
Like a thorny black crown

The light up ahead
It never grows near
The demons claw deep
Like a single wet tear

One day peace will come
When this body gives in
The memory will fade
And so will the sin

Till that day does come
With my thoughts I will fight
Push on ever further
And walk through the night
