The Night Sky

I look and wonder,

Is there an end?

I sit and ponder,

Is there a message I can send?

Is there anyone to receive it,

If I compose a short note?

Is there anyone to perceive,

The thoughts that I wrote?

It seems such a simple task,

To send your awe into the skies.

The question that I ask is,

Will it be seen by knowing eyes?

Can they send back to me,

Exactly what they see?

Do they stand and stare?

Are they aware?

Looking into the night,

Do they sense that there might,

Be some with insight,

Who share the star's delight?

Whether it be on sea or on land,

Do they know what it means to be alive?

Can they think and understand,

What it means to try to survive?

In their universe,

Do they see God's Great Gallery,

And just how diverse,

Life can be?

Do they look and wonder?

Do they sit and ponder?

I hope it is so.

Will I ever know?

Into the Night Sky,
