Night Song

Night Song
In the sky
Magenta curtains
Fold over the
Remains of twilight.
In the shadows
Bats wings circle
Almost a silouette
In the last of evening.
The trees outlines
Become bolder
Even they still
Their whispering
Leaves in homage.
Nightingales
Compose a nocturne
Of sweetness
Ready to lilt
In the cool night air.
Crickets
Permeate the night
with their ceaseless
Chirping.
Filling the
Late summer night
With comforting song.
The moon
Now in full glow
Spills silvered light.
Silvered birds
In silvered leaves
Nest quietly.
Just the smokey
Scent of the coming autumn
Sends a shiver in the night.
As sleep
Falls like feathers
On a peaceful world.
