No War
Alternate: My Fish
Trigger moment,
That goes unspoken.
Final opportunity,
One. Last. Time.
To write another,
Affirmations.
Without face to face,
Without a doubt.
Then it pours out.
Before I can grab a pen,
The words and phrases.
Of feelings spent.
Years of troubles.
Before slipping away,
Into anxious sleep.
Keeps the mind awake.
But today;
I feel empty for the first time,
Calmer now
Safer now
Lighter now.
Thorn from the side,
Thrown from the sole.
Into the void.
Gone
It is destroyed.
Buried,
Lost,
Taken.
Tossed.
Never
Felt
Like
This
Before.
Tragic life,
When the mind`s at war.
I didnβt realise,
Till the flags were waved.
In the dust
In the sand.
On the streets.
On the stage.
My Fish of the Sea.

Awe Max I must agree with you. John writes some amazing poetry. I always love his structure and themes. He is a master at causing the reader to reflect on life in depth. Which I always love :) You definitely tuned in with this piece my friend. A fab write.

Brilliant Max throughout it all all not a bum note or word wasted anywhere by the looks after a reread.
And it is a battle in a for what seems like a forever war to stem all conflict and distraction that arise and sadly surface to dwell on when a mind is in turmoil, being pulled from pillar to post, enduring the unendurable with what we think at the time no off button or kill switch.
But it is there and can be found sometimes.
Thanks Max and I wish you well and things DO get better, they improve, maybe in small increments for a better quality of life inside of one's id and train of thought.
All part of being human and what it entails.
And after rereading I had a sense of falling, was that one of your intentions when writing it and cleverly and skilfully blended that sensation in?

Thanks, Shaun!! Ahh, I think I enjoy the wordplay of a few words, more challenging! But yes, this write was about finally finding my off button, being about to control my thoughts and feelings for the first time and beginning to be more accepting of others and who they are. Thank you kindly, my poetic friend, support from you really makes a difference, in my writing, motivation and perspective on life. Perhaps there is a sense of falling in this work, though my intention was to create a feeling of mental freedom or a blank mind.
