Nobody Knows

Nobody knows what a mess that I am,Β
Nobody sees when I'm crying to sleep,Β
Nobody knows how all this began,Β
Nobody notices me sinking so deep...Β
Nobody knows how I'm fading away,Β
Nobody thinks that my smile is fake,Β
Oh but it is, it's forced day by day,Β
Nobody sees how inside I shake...Β
Everyone thinks that I'm quiet and shy,Β
But they don't know that I'm hiding inside,Β
Hiding and crying, letting the world pass me by,Β
Not even trying, but pushing away from your side...Β
Nobody knows that I don't care,Β
Nobody sees me when Im falling to pieces,Β
Nothing I like, no emotion but despair,Β
I've stopped even trying to look for releases...Β
I just want to leave, leave this life, I'm alone,Β
Disappear off the face of the world,Β
Leave and be gone, find a place to be home,Β
Disappear, leave who I was in the cold...Β
No greater mercy than closing my eyes,Β
Than lying asleep, the life seeping away,Β
Nobody knows, that life I despise,Β
Nobody knows that i don't want to stay...Β

somber pen most eloquently prosed! Happy Holidays to you and yours

Ah BowKitty,
We all feel this way sometimes; especially those of us who find ourselves moved to take words, arrange them in patterns of meter and rhyme, and call it poetry.
In some ways, this reminds me of John Clare's poemΒ I am. You should read it, if you're not already familiar with his work.
Your work is heartbreaking...and beautiful.
KeepΒ your chin up. And keep on keeping on.

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement.
I just looked at the poem "I Am" and I like it, thanks for the recommendation.Β

You are very welcome.
I'm glad you like the Clare poem. Oddly enough, a friend gave me a copy of it several years ago when a monologue I wrote and performed reminded her of the same poem. Thus was I introduced to his work. Apart from the heart-wrenching explorations of his own loneliness and despair, he was also a gifted nature poet. I heartily recommend the episode of "Great Lives" about him; you can download a free podcast of it from the BBC Radio 4 website. You know...if you like that kind of thing!
I look forwardΒ to reading more of your work.
