NOCTURNAL ADVENTURE

NOCTURNAL ADVENTURE

Its the middle of the night,
and your trying hard to stay asleep
but your bladder is awake and starting to shake

You toss and you turn
 and you are starting to gurn
you need to get up, but you want to stay

the children are asleep
your husband is snoring
the new puppy is quiet after nocturnal wandering

so you creep to the toilet
like a quiet little mouse
trying all the time not to wake up the house

when all of a sudden,
wandering round in the dark
you stand in a wet, cold and slimy mess

You hope the puppy has not left a present
so you hop and shake your foot and panic
not wanting to look, at what its encased in

By now the house is awake,
you put the light on not daring to peek
at the site you are met with, you cannot help but shriek

Your foot has not stood in what you think it might have
Instead it is encased in a full chicken carcass
courtesy of the nocturnal wanderings of the new puppy

The family are stunned, and starting to laugh
so much for the creeping around in the dark
next time my bladder wakes me up
I must make sure that I'm NOT!!  near the pup
