Poem -

the endless fallen leaves

the endless fallen leaves

The fallen leaves
How they scatter
When the wind blows
them through
Like our bodies in the future
Blown apart by time
No longer are we present
No longer any consequence
Where are all the prayers
From the endless dead?
Do they die with them?
Or do they blow about?
Like the fallen leaves
For them nothing more to anchor
No promises or punishments no happy endings
For the endless dead
Too many to count
All those fools now
Are they passed onto the ground
How do we keep  from insulting all around
By stepping on their dreams
On all that they have left
Endless fallen leaves
And the endless fallen dead
When I die please I cry
Scatter my ashes
In among the trees
So I can join my fellows
 And all those fallen leaves

I like how you connected the leaves to past time, change of the season. How the leaves die each autumn, then go back into the black soil, to provide nutrients for the insects, to feed the birds and other mammals, the cycle keeps going, long after we pass. Then, it will be another generation of fallen leaves and recycling life through our ashes.
