O Remember...!

O remember those long dead under earth!
For many now forget their rustic ways.
They were all vital actors in Life's play:
Nurturing the corn and knowing life's worth;
Bringing old timber to begin new fires;
At one with the rhythms of the seasons;
Knowing that Nature has many reasons;
Discerning real needs from selfish desires;
Knowing the time for milking and harvests;
Working all day long, at night seeking rest.
