Ode To Bob Dylan

You told us about the tombstone blues
You were our rolling stoneÂ
When you painted your masterpiece
You reminded us you'd been to Rome
You warned us about the roads a man must walk down
Perhaps you were watching the river flow
When you told us the one about the leopard skin pill-box hatÂ
You must have felt like that lonesome hobo!Â
You escaped like the drifter you mentioned
You were our father of night
You offered shelter from the storm
You laid your blood on the tracks
You asked when you gonna wake up and see the lightÂ
Did I see you standing in the doorway?
Giving me a restless farewell
You told us about the world gone wrongÂ
And how you loved Blind Willie McTell
You observed from the highest mountain peak
You must have seen that ship come in
You told us about your lovers and Johanna
And the politics of sin
You told us about that Jokerman
You were our man of peace
Ring them bells because everything is broken
Are you still trying to get to heaven or sit with the beast?

Hi Keith, you give hints of the colours that are in your head, I'll have one more cup of coffee and read it again. Dylan has always been a hero and an inspiration and, since the beeb gave him a show on radio 6 he has felt like a friend. Great read about one of the greatest of men.
Thank you!
Also was see what did with "One More Cup Of Coffee"
Thank you very surprised!
Where is the "one eyed undertaker?" lol. Nice write. JCG
Haha, a yes ?
Congratulations Keith, I thought this poem was very clever when I read it a while back. I grew up with Dylan and I'm a fan myself but don't know every song (I have the best of compilation) - SydÂ
Thanks Syd yeah Dylan is a great vehicle of expression.
Congratulations ?Â
Thank you!
Congratulations Keith! ?âș
Appreciate it thank you!
Enjoyed the Ode, but the last line was the elephant in the room for me, hit me like a club n turned my thought wheel " R U still trying to get to heaven or r U sitting with the beast? Dylan's super talented poetic sword of truth made a lot of people think about issues, policies, n thinking processes...with so much corruption globally, country by country today, right now, that Bobby Dylan's sword of truth that cut thru a lot of bull would ring loud as ever...the man is around 75 yrs. old now tho, n that age has major issues just trying to survive. I would love to hear him write about current huge issues with a "hard rain's gonna fall" kind of song...thanks for your poem
No problem and I fully understand your  point. I think Dylan did not want to repeat himself throughout his career
Such a beautiful tribute to an amazing artist. Well done, sir! ??
