O Victor Jara, the poet martyr!
His poignant songs of love and peace still stir,
The hearts and minds of millions, across this
War-torn world of deceit and empty promise.
Murdered by a brutal, fascist regime.
As he represented a nation's dreams
Of hope, freedom and solidarity.
Long may his words of truth and dignity
Remain in our collective memory.
O let his dove- like spirit be released
And spread its graceful ways across every
Street, in every city and every
Town, in every land. Let freedom's belled hymns
Ring out and let a new epoch begin!
