Shorthand being taken by the reliable Miss Shaw
The manager has his own official private room 
A tea boy will come soon to lift the office gloom 

Letters will be posted by the willing junior clerk
He has to go now before the day turns dark 
Mister Bell looks at his watch his day is done 
Off with the suit it's the trainers now for a run 

A knock on the manager's door by Mister Kline
Clutching a letter saying he wants to resign 
Twenty five years with the company man and boy
Time for a change something different to enjoy 

This was a typical office thirty years ago or more
No internet and no e emails that's for sure
