Old Chestnut

Old Chestnut

It's all over, there never was any mystery,
I told you that you can't change the events of history;
the land was stolen from the natives they said,
it didn't matter if the Indians were brown or red.

I've just seen a video of a black man being shot
dead in a wheelchair - if it's true, that's world war four,
I missed world war three because madame was talking,
it was bad enough when someone else was walking.

It's the 'Noah' syndrome again - let's start once more,
with everyone a nice medium brown beautiful colour,
would that solve problems - no, but maybe some,
until we find another and the next one comes along.

Why can't we all get along? So, after all, it was a mystery,
I don't mind what colour you are, you'll always be beautiful to me.
