Poem -

Old Hero

I saw my own life
go down the hill,
I crash as I burn,
and cry out loud.
But no one can hear,
I know there are people
up over that ridge,
who don't want to see me
with this fear on my face.
They have always looked up to me,
I have saved their lives,
but they leave me to die..
I'll wait as I remember,
All the things I've done,
all the lives I've saved
and all the love that I made.
As I close my eyes
I imagine that beautiful sunrise.
No one is coming,
I guess I'll be
That old hero who dies
with nothing but his pride.
I look up that hill
as I see the sun die.
