Old Man

Old Man

Β What goes on in your head old man?

Why the suit you wear so proudly but no place to go?

Your cuffs are too short, your adidas socks with holes on show

Your tie wears a stain- so old it’s faint with crust

Your volume is not a sound of confidence

Your voice not a sound of success

Social ineptness describes your awkward presence at best

You enthuse of a 5 million dollar investment

Your delusions keeping you entertained

You’re oblivious to the pity, the nods for your sake,

To help you save face

The patronising smiles and β€˜well done sir’

Your world is so lonely and detached

Stubbornly uncooperative with reality

But with your black marked sleeves- stained from shining your shoes

You still hold some pride and innocence

Something rare…

Something envied…
