Old School Photo

Somebody posted on social media
An old forgotten school photo of us
Aged around seven:  The whole class.
Now thirty years on

We were commenting on who was who
(It was a long time ago-
Or does it seem like yesterday?)
Commenting on the clothes we wore.

Thirty years!  We’ve moved on since then
Starting together, then dispersing
Some are now doctors, some nurses-
(And of course not just pretending to be so.)

Some now businessmen and business-women,
Others teachers; solicitors
Parents with young children who are
Attending infant schools, junior schools…

It seemed funny living the life I now lead
Suddenly seeing a photo
Of what once was and how we were
How unaffected- we knew nothing of politics.

We had it easy then, but now as adults
for better or worse- or both-we have knowledge.
But the photos remind us of that time.
The simple innocence of young schoolchildren.

Let’s pass it on.
