On my own

On my own

How can life slip away
in the blink of an eye,
a childish smile
to be meant for someone else

How can love turn its back,
once was gold,
now is black,
grew us cold

How can all that you’ve given
not be seen, yet forsaken
without thought,
leave you empty

How can all, once so sweet
be now bitter,
leave me weep
on my own

Very deep and powerful write.  To read is to feel pain and emotion, very well written.

it takes a brilliant mind to sculpt just a few words, and have it's meaning way heavy upon the heart ....

It was a question I had worn on my lips for days - like a loose thread on my favourite sweater I couldn't resist pulling - despite knowing it could all unravel around me.

"Do you love me?" I ask.

In your hesitation I found my answer.

'leave me weep
on my own'....just those words put simply at the end ...I nearly did ...💕

The emotion felt from this write, pulls the reader into the scene. Brilliant.
