On The Wind

On The Wind
Â
You believe you can walk on water rise above it all
But you don’t realize pride always comes before a fall
Â
Winter snow has covered the once barren ground
Pieces of you buried under the snow won’t be found
Â
You create enormous waves wherever you go
It is the endless seeds of discontent that you sow
Â
Love em and leave them hurting that’s your style
And you do it all behind a devilish cunning smile
Â
You left a stain that even the seas won’t wash away
Makes me endlessly wonder just why I stay
Â
The day is coming when I take my final steps away from you
I will venture the world just to find a heart that is true
Â
You often weigh upon my aching heart just like a stone
It causes me to think I would be far better off all alone
Â
Within your cold heart there is always a storm brewing
The further breaking of my fragile heart always ensuing
Â
You constantly lash me with your wicked tongue
Fear is that soon the all of the hurt won’t be undone
Â
A cold wind will one day come knocking at your door
Causing you to forget all you thought you knew before
Â
Your heart has grown as cold as the winter ice and snow
I so foolishly hoped that some compassion would grow
Â
You are a manifestation of  all the crosses that I bear
Your seemingly endless hurt can be found everywhere
Â
Sometimes I contemplate just leaving you in the dust
Allow the blood in my heart to simply turn to rust
Â
It’s on the whispering wind that blows in the night
I’ll take my heart and disappear out of your sight
Â
Today marks the passing of yet another New Year
Would have to dig deep in my heart for reason for cheer
