Once upon a dream

A cave I feared to enter
Held the treasure I longed to seek
Among the midnight's weather
The moon was white and weak
I took a single step
Inside the dark, cold cave
I was only getting prepared
For a long and frightful maze
A raven squeaked, squawked, and talked
Upon the midnight moon
He moved to block
The cave, a lot
In which I nearly swooned
The raven had moved
I pondered in the cave
In which he approved
My eyes clearly glued
I wondered to such a blaze
Ā
I could almost see the treasure
Behind the dragon's rock
he was so big; You could not measure
all he did was block
This was the only use
For the sword that I was given
Nor did I get to choose
Why he was unforgiving
I laughed
I blankedĀ
All in awe
He was sleeping on some straw
I woke up that night
My eyes can'tĀ see much light
All upon the midnight's moon.Ā
Ā

Thank you so much!! I greatly appreciate it!!Ā
Seeing as I am a true blue, dyed-in-the-wool fan of Edgar Allan Poe and his poem, The Raven, how could I not enjoy reading this fantasy offering from your talented quill, Joelle?
Good word play and a snappy cadence (not to mention a nice nod toward the raven) made for a delightful reading experience.
Bravo!
