ONCE UPON A TIME...

ONCE UPON A TIME......
When man we now call ancient was then
But newly  self-aware
There existed a love afair
Twixt Earth and Heaven and him
A glorious universal hymnÂ
Which nature orchestrated.
He lightly stepped upon the earth.
Revered the world which gave him birth.
Obeyed the signs that nature showed
And walked abroad with head unbowed.
As light flowed he rose with dawn
Let his hunger call him home
And with the fading of the light
Closed his eyes and dreamt the night.
All things balanced and all was right.
Then came a day he sought to change
The balance.  He made it strange
By slicing night and dicing day
But nothing seemed to fit that way.
Somehow he lost the beat, forgot the rhyme
But kept on measuring, gave us time.
Clothed us in hours, draped us in days
Lost connection to the elder leys
That sang in his heart so long ago,
Sacrificed upon a whim.
He talks of killing time...but time is killing  him
