Poem -

One for all and all for love...

One for all and all for love...

It is easy to separate the world from your family,

To say these are the people to love and protect,

But what about all the thousands of others with which you connect?

Whose lives you effect,

What makes them any less?

Yeah sure blood’s thicker than water.

But when was the last time you saw someone cut open leaking Hâ‚‚O?

We all have blood and it’s all more same than different,

Maybe it isn’t to you, but to me that’s significant,

What if, for a change,

We all shifted our brains,

And adopted a new frame,

That maybe deep down we really are the same,

The whole world could be your family,

So you’d never be alone,

Sisters and brothers,

Fathers and mothers,

Aunts and cousins,

And uncles, we could all be brethren,

Sure we don’t all get along,

Or think the same way,

Sing the same songs,

But what family does?

I just know I like the idea of being surrounded by love,

So what do you say?

Are you willing to join my experiment,

Lift all of humanity up to a new designation,

Throw out the categories like race, faith or nation,

Treat them all with the same grace, love and forgiveness,

As we do with those who happen to be born in the tree with us,

Expecting only that someone for us will do the same service,

That’s how things change,

Just a bit of faith and an idea, it’s OK don’t be nervous,

You can take it one step at a time,

Life and habit don’t turn on a dime,

But if you take only few of my words to heart I’d choose these:

Love freely, openly and without reservation,

Love honestly, completely and without expectation,

Might not be much but it is a start,

Toward my cheesy goal of one love in every heart.
